A window with weathered blue shutters and a wall with a pinkish peeling plaster are archetypal Venice.

The canal's waterline, the iron rungs of the ladder, the rusted iron pipe...all add to the aged look of this simple window.
But why the ladder? Perhaps Casanova was in the neighborhood?

A hardy plant is contrasted with the texture, texture, texture of this window treatment. Notice the beautiful iron work both inside and out.

This scene is synonomus of the Venetian island of Burano. Iron pipes, weathered shutters, another small winodw all grouped together perfectly!

Now here is an interesting shaped window that I know happens to sit on a small canal. The iron works well with the stone and brick of this building.

Sun dappled buildings are reflected both in the window glass, and in the shiny finish of the green shutters themselves.
Notice the silver shoes in the window sill? This was seen on several occasions on the island of Burano.
This window sits next to a fireplace, as evidenced by the chimney to the right.
